This is a special workshop for us, as it’s the first since the lockdown. Are you ready to bring your creativity to life and explore the exciting world of batik painting? Join us for our upcoming workshop, where you’ll learn the basics of this unique art form and create your own masterpiece.

Infopower International presents an online “Introduction to Batik Painting” workshop. In this workshop participants will create their own Batik artworks from start to finish. This workshop will allow students to unleash their creativity using a variety of resist art techniques.

  • Workshop will comprise of 6 working sessions. Each class will meet for 2 hours on Saturdays from 4:00pm to 6:00 pm (EST)
  • All registrants will receive a supply kit, mailed to them ahead of the workshop.
  • Classes will be conducted using Microsoft Teams and Teachable.com.
  • Classes will be recorded and made available for students who miss class.
  • Students can contact Dr. Patrick Akinbola outside of regular class time for assistance.
  • The first 20 registrants pay just $20 for the course.

  1. Habotai silk scarf 8mm (8” by 54”)
  2. Fiber Reactive Procion dyes (3 primary colors & black)
  3. Chemical water items: Sodium Alginate (Seaweed Thickener), Soda Ash Fixer, and Urea (Organic Nitrogen)

  5. Jacquard (Removable Water-Based Resist)
  6. Resist Applicator and tips

About Instructor

Dr. Patrick Akinbola

Originally from Nigeria, Dr. Patrick Akinbola has been practicing art for most of his life.
As a painter, puppeteer, and for the last 3 decades as a batik practitioner. In addition to working on murals and other large surfaces, he specializes in wearable art.

Dr. Akinbola has a BA in Fine Arts from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and an M.Ed and PhD in Educational Technology from the University of Missouri, Columbia.
He currently resides in Queens, NY with his wife and collaborator, Anthonia.
